Elizabeth "Gayle" Egnor, aged 77, died peacefully on January 8, 2013, after a long struggle with congestive heart failure. Gayle was born on March 13, 1935 to Richard Miller and Ann Elizabeth Daugherty in Ashland, Kentucky.
Gayle had a love for family, travel, art, antiquing and reading. She grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and Covington, Kentucky attending Holmes High School. Her love for horses took her to a dude ranch in Colorado Springs for a short time. She lived in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky and Murray, Kentucky before settling in Florence, Kentucky for over 30 years. Her love for the Ocean led her to "retire" for a time in the quaint seaside town of Marblehead, Massachusetts before returning to Florence in 2007.
Gayle is survived by her son, Ed Wagner and daughter-in-law Donna Wagner, of Florence, Kentucky, her daughter Rita Sprenkle and son-in-law Chris Sprenkle of Cincinnati, Ohio and one granddaughter, Hannah Wagner. She is also survived by cousins Nancy Kazee of Ashland, KY and Tom Daugherty of Park Hills, KY; two aunts, several cousins, two nephews and a niece.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013 at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Taylor Mill, KY beginning at 9:30 a.m. Memorial service will be at 10:30 at Floral Hills with graveside service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Mary Rose Mission, PO Box 76533, Highland Heights, Ky 41076. The Mary Rose Mission's ministry is "to provide food to the hungry and "food insecure" population of Florence, Kentucky and its surrounding area." The Mary Rose Mission has been renovating a building at 272 Main Street in Florence which will become the first soup kitchen in Boone County.
