Ishmael Mullins, Jr.

1930-2020

Ishmael Mullins, Jr., of Erlanger, passed away on December 5, 2020 at The Village Care Center. He was born on May 17, 1930 in Scuddy, Kentucky, to Ishmael Sr., a farmer and coal miner, and Betty Jane Mullins, a schoolteacher and homemaker. Beloved husband of the late Clara Mae (Hensley) for 67 years. Devoted father of the late Mitchell Mullins. Proud grandfather to Craig Mullins (deceased) and Lauren Mullins. He is survived by his granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, son, and grandson, he is preceded in death by his sisters Agnes (Henry) Hornsby; Nevalin (Herbert) Williams; Norine (James) Madden; Vivian (Roy) Hornsby; and his brothers Kelson (Linda) Mullins and Danny (Betty) Mullins. Ish graduated from Mt. Carmel High School. He worked for P&G for 34 years until his retirement. Ish was a man of faith, devoted to service. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Newport, KY, for 27 years before moving to North Dearborn Community Baptist Church in West Harrison, IN. He was also a member of the Henry Barnes Masonic Lodge. In his spare time, he enjoyed farming, traveling, tracing his ancestry, and rooting on the Kentucky Wildcats. Every time he saw you, he’d leave you with these parting words, “I love ya, and I’m praying for ya.” A private service will be held. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the North Dearborn Community Baptist Church or the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.
