Alice Sue Sowders

Alice Sue Sowders, age 84, of Florence, KY, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 15, 2024. Alice was born on January 27, 1940, in Corbin, KY to Eugene and Virginia (Lanham) Asher. 

She retired from Western & Southern Financial Group in the 90’s and went on to enjoy her retirement by enjoying a good classic tv show, expressing her creative side or attending a family function. Alice cherished her family and friends and remained very active in staying close with them all, but most importantly, Alice was a wonderfully devoted and dedicated mother to Nelson “Ed” Sowders II. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Nelson E. Sowders I; siblings, Betty Thomas, George Hudson and Shirley Zerkle. Alice is survived by her loving sons: Ed (Shannon) Sowders and James “Jim” Strawser; grandchildren: Addyson Sowders, Austin Cooper, and Logan Cooper; great-granddaughter, Addyson Webb; sisters: Debbie Whitaker, Margie Smith and Rosie (Charlie) Seifert as well as numerous other loving family members and friends. 

Alices family will greet friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 5336 Old Taylor Mill Rd., Taylor Mill, KY. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home, Floral Hills Funeral Home on Monday, August 26, 2024, at 11:00 AM with a graveside service to follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
