Bernard Esmond Richardson

Bernard Esmond Richardson, 80, of Independence, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 19, 2024, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 26, 1943, in Anguilla, West Indies, to the late Robert J. and Jane S. Richardson. Bernard married the love of his life Elvea Richardson (Mintos) on January 6, 1972, and together they created a legacy. He is survived by his beloved family, including his wife of 52 years Elvea Richardson (Mintos), sons, Darvin Richardson and Dr. Kenrick (Rita) Richardson; daughters, Aslyn (Dwight) Bonds, Debbie (Sean Sr.) Fobbs, Sharon (David) Lowe, Alicia (Darius) Jones and LaKisha (Steve) Miller; grand-children, Jacquio Bonds, Alexia Bonds, Sherisha Cornelius, Judah Weeks, Darvina Richardson, Sean (Christa) Fobbs Jr., Malcolm (Mandy) Fobbs, Christopher Fobbs, Gabrielle Richardson, Gyasi Richardson, Gregory Richardson, Laila Lowe, Maya Lowe Camille Lowe, Jasmine Jones, Cameron Jones and Brielle Nicole Miller; and great-grandchildren, Akenda Weeks, LeRoy Cornelius, Renique Cornelius, A’Kayjah Cornelius, Raynyah Cornelius, Lenque Cornelius, LaElle Fobbs, Noah Fobbs, Isaiah Fobbs and Kaylani Fobbs. He also leaves behind his brothers and sisters along with many other relatives and friends who cherished his kind spirit and generous heart. Bernard worked as a dedicated Plant Operations Supervisor for 15 years with Myrah Keating Smith Community Health Care in St. John, Virgin Islands, until his retirement. He was a beloved member of the Bethel Baptist Church in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and the First Baptist Church in Independence, Kentucky. Bernard was a man of faith who valued family, community, and service. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held 11AM Friday, October 25, 2024, at Floral Hills Funeral Home, Chapel B, with Pastor Tim Scott and Pastor Dr. Bentley Thomas officiating.  Visitation will be held Friday from 10-11 AM.  Burial to follow at Independence Cemetery.  Floral Hills is honored to serve the Richardson family.
