Charles H. Carpenter, 83 of Independence, KY passed away surrounded by his family on March 25, 2016 at his home. He retired from Procter & Gamble as a Machinist after 30 plus years. Charles was Instrumental in starting the Independence Police Department in 1970 and prior to that he was with the Kenton County Reserve Police Department. He was a member of the Bradford Masonic Lodge, Fraternal Order of Police, Kentucky Colonel and a Shriner. He was a member of Taylor Mill Pentecostal Church. Charles was preceded in death by his Sisters: Eula Mae Vance and Lucille Walker. He is survived by his Loving Wife, Jean Carpenter; Sons: Duane Carpenter (Pam) of Walton, KY, David Carpenter of Independence, KY and Kevin Carpenter (Sissy) of Independence, KY; 5 Grandsons: Mark, Christopher, Brandon, Phillip and Jeremy; 6 Great Granddaughters; Brother: Ralph Carpenter of Independence, KY; Step-Sons: Otis Ketron of Independence, KY and Dennis Ketron (Beverly) of Independence, KY. The Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Floral Hills Funeral Home in Taylor Mill, KY from 10 AM until the Service at 1 PM. Entombment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
