Charles "Shihan" Williams, 81, died Saturday, Jan. 3, at St. Elizabeth Hospice, Edgewood.
He owned Northern Kentucky Karate School in Independence and was a World War II and Korean War Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Joyce Williams; son, Terry Williams of Latonia; daughters, Mickey Penman and Ruth A Smith of Independence; foster daughter, Donna Mullins of Florida; half brothers, Nick Gormas of Morrow, Ohio, Pete Gormas of Cincinnati and Harry Gormas of Florida; half sister, Lula Panos of Chicago, Ill.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 4-6:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, with Mass of Christian Burial following at 7 p.m. at St. Patrick Church, Independence. Burial will be private at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill. Swindler & Currin Funeral Home, Independence, is handling arrangements.
