Clyde Clarence "Mike" Nelson

Clyde Clarence “Mike” Nelson, 91, of Fort Thomas, Kentucky and former long time resident of Highland Heights, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022. He was born on June 10, 1931 in Newport, Kentucky to the late Clarence and Gertrude Nelson. He was a retired trust officer of the Fifth Third Bank in Florence, Kentucky. He proudly served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sargent, in 1953. He was an active member of several government and civic organizations including the city council and the zoning board of Highland Heights, Campbell County Rural Knothole Baseball Association, Campbell County High School Band Choral Association, Carmel Manor Board of Directors, and the Cold Spring-Alexandria Lions Club. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals. Mike enjoyed traveling with wife and close friends, and spending time and doing activities with family members and close friends. Mike was pre-deceased by his wife, Marie Nelson in 2018 after 64 years of marriage, five brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his sons Mark Nelson (Patti) of Taylor Mill, Kentucky, Donald Nelson of McKinney, Texas, and Jeffery Nelson (Judy) of McKinney, Texas, grandchildren Daniel Nelson, Sarah Nelson Glass, Kyle Nelson, Elizabeth Nelson Kinney, Cory Nelson, and Rachel Nelson Dickman, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and long time friends.

Visitation will be Monday, December 12, 2022 at Floral Hills Funeral Home in Taylor Mill, Kentucky from 10:00 am until the time of Funeral Service at 12:00 pm. Entombment will immediately follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Mausoleum.
