David W. McKinney

Ft. Wright – Passed away on March 14, 2021 at the age of 84. Dave proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He recently experienced the Honor Flight at CVG Airport with his granddaughter Tricia. After his time in the military, he began working in the trucking industry. He was a hardworking truck driver for 52 years before retiring from TMC Transportation. Dave enjoyed fishing, watching Western films, Nascar, vacationing out West to places like the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone and spending time with his family, especially seeing his grandchildren play sports. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Shirley Jean McKinney (nee Backer); daughters, Patricia Orr, Kathy Hensley; grandchildren, Tricia Orr, Christina Orr, David Orr, Kandace Hensley; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie (Sean) Hopper, Tanner, Riley, Reagan, Morgan, Kelsey, Courtney, Shawn, Taylor, Dylan; and great-great grandchildren, Hunter, Hayden, and Ryker. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Howard McKinney and Gertrude Fausz (nee Stordahl) and his siblings, Howard McKinney Jr., Joy Wilfong and Joan Harmon. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 11 am until the Funeral Service at 1 pm, all at Floral Hills Funeral Home, Taylor Mill, KY. Donations are suggested to a charity that Dave and Shirley volunteered with, Action Ministries, 4375 Boron Drive, Covington, KY 41015.
