Dennis Roy New, Jr.

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Dennis Roy “Denny” New, Jr. of Covington, KY who passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters.

Denny was a graduate of Scott High School and honorably served in the United States Army, where he was a military police officer. He also spent many years as a volunteer firefighter with the City of Taylor Mill. Denny retired with the City of Covington’s Public Works Department.

Denny’s favorite pastime was spending time at Lake Cumberland with his family. He obtained a Captains License and spent a lot of time boating and enjoying the water. `

Denny greatest feat in life was being a proud Papa. He loved his granddaughters dearly. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t have done for his girls. That includes his granddaughters, daughters and nieces.

Preceding Denny in death was his beloved mother, Judith New.

Those left surviving to carry on Denny’s memory include his father, Dennis R. New, Sr.; wife of 27 years, Janet New; daughters, Brandy (Michael) Pearcy and Lauren New; granddaughters, Annalynn and Sarah; sister, Elise (Richard) Baucum; niece, Brianna; as well as many other nieces, nephews, other close relatives and friends who are now emptier upon his passing.

A visitation celebrating Denny’s life will be held from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Floral Hills Funeral Home ~ Chapel A, 5336 Old Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, KY 41015. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Pastor Anna Merlo will officiate the services. Denny will be laid to rest with military honors in a private ceremony at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North, 205 Eibeck Lane, Williamstown, KY 41097.
