Donald Scott Whiteker

Donald Scott Whiteker, 86, of Independence, Ky, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospice. Don was born on September 6, 1936, in Cythiana, Ky. Son of George and Agnes Whiteker.

Don married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Spaulding in June 1957. He spent his entire career with R.A. Jones as a computer programmer, until retiring in 1996.

Don was a Supreme Council Scottish Rite 33° Freemason and belonged to Bradford Lodge #123 for over 50 years.

Don was preceded in death by his mother, father, wife, Barbara, grandson, Drew Taylor, younger brother, Mel Whiteker, and son, Clayton Whiteker.

Don leaves to cherish his memory and celebration of life: daughter, Tammy (Bruce) Taylor; daughter-in-law, Linda; grandchildren, Shonda (Adam) Leen, Nicole (Cort) Wayman, Dakota (Kortni) Taylor, and Dawson Taylor; brother, Jim (Meskel); nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pat Whiteker; one niece, nephews, other relatives and loving friends.

A visitation will be held Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Banklick Christian Church, from 9:30 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, where a Masonic service will be held. The family will be having a meal at LaRosa's Pizza (5128 Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, Ky 41015) following the services at the gravesite. Floral Hills is honored to serve Donald’s family.
