Dorinda Grace Adelman, a resident of Villa Hills, KY passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY.
She was born in Providence, RI on July 9, 1944, the daughter of the late John and Lillias McNeil. Dorinda had an insatiable appetite for learning and giving back to the community. She was a member of the Catholic Women of Cincinnati and the Red Cross. Dorinda also volunteered with the American Cancer Society and Playhouse in the park. She was a lifelong teacher with the Cincinnati Public School System and retired as an English teacher with Walnut Hills High School. Besides knowledge, the only passion she had that burned brighter than educating was watching her beloved grandchildren grow up. They all were truly the apple of her eye.
Preceding Dorinda in death were her parents, John L. “Jack” and Lillias Grace McNeil; grandparents, Madison and Grace Cairnes and her in-laws, Joseph and Sophia Adelman.
Those left surviving to carry on Dorinda’s memory include her loving and devoted husband of almost 57 years, Roger Adelman; loving children, Elizabeth Palmer, Eddy (Sophia) Adelman, Cynthia Adelman, Jenny Adelman and Rebecca Adelman; siblings, John M. McNeil, Scott (Phyllis) McNeil and Judy (David) Royston; grandchildren, Madeline, Hailey, Sophia, Ben, Nathan, Allie, Jody, Elle, Kate, Corrine, Ashton, Jeremy, Uncle Timmy and Lexi; great-grandchildren, Wren, Norah, Erabella, Willow, Alice, Isaac and Levi; as well as many other close relatives and friends whose lives are now emptier upon her sudden passing.
A visitation for Dorinda will be held from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 3612 Church Street, Covington, KY 41015. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 12:00 PM at the church. Dorinda will then be led in procession to her final resting place at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5336 Old Taylor Mill, Road, Taylor Mill, KY 41015.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741. Floral Hills Funeral Home is helping to assist the family during this difficult time.
