Eileen Ann Mehuron

August 24, 1926 — December 13, 2024

Taylor Mill

Eileen A Mehuron, a mother and advocate who spent her lifetime researching and trying to get funding to build a home for the mentally ill, underprivileged adults with not many options available, died on December 13 in Covington, Kentucky. She was 98.

She grew up in the Depression and during World War II. Her father, Charles W. Hogan was the Water Works Supervisor for Kenton County. Her mother, Evelyn (Keenan) Hogan was a homemaker.

Her maternal grandfather, James William Keenan, played for the Cincinnati Red Stockings from 1885-1891 and was known as ‘Kid Keenan’.

Eileen was born the middle daughter of four children, nine years after her brother James Hogan (dec) and nine years before her twin sisters Joan Brockman (dec) and Joy Rolfsen on August 24, 1926 in Covington, Kentucky.

As a young adult, Eileen summered with her aunt and uncle, Betty and Lou Meyer, where she enjoyed music, arts, dancing, fine dining, synchronized swimming, horseback riding and travel. Eileen became a Certified Red Cross Lifeguard, swimming across the Ohio River.

Eileen attended St. Patrick School in Covington before graduating from St. Xavier School Of Business (now St. Xavier College) with a degree in Business Administration. She worked for New York Life.

She married Jack R. Mehuron, a sales executive for Seven Up Bottling Company. The couple moved to Taylor Mill where they built their home. Eileen and Jack enjoyed dancing at Moonlight Gardens, traveling to National and State Parks, and swimming.

Eileen excelled at cooking, using only the freshest ingredients from their vegetable gardens. She made homemade ice cream, goetta, preserves, and jams along with fresh baked breads, cookies, pies and Eileen Ann Mehuron cakes. Many of our play clothes were made by hand, as well as dresses, window treatments, and other household textiles. She made many beautiful embroidery pieces, crochet and knitted accessories.

Eileen is survived by five children, Mariam Mehuron (Dimitri Caludis (deceased), Marcia Reusch (Tom), Michele Deutsch (Greg), Marlene Wendling, Mark Mehuron (Rachel) (deceased), and four grandchildren Angelique Perez (Jeff Shelton), Bryce Reusch (Lena Ogrokhina), Kelsey Mehuron (Sarah Cowie), Zach Mehuron (Sarah McManus) and six great grandchildren, Elliot Shelton, Lila Shelton, Phoebe Shelton and Finlay Reusch, Adler Reusch and Kaia Reusch and special niece, Jane Rolfsen and many nieces and nephews and dear friends.

Eileen was a devoted mother and believed in the power of prayer.

She was generous and inclusive always inviting friends, neighbors and relatives to join in the festivities in her home.
