On Sunday, June 20, 2021 Elizabeth "Betty" Mahan passed away at the age of 78. She was a loving, caring, and giving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt. Elizabeth was born on August 2, 1942 to Patton and Martha Bruner (Brown). On May 30th, 1959 she married the love of her life Edward Mahan. They raised four sons, Danny, Eddie, Robert "Bobby" and James "Jimbo" and two daughters Kathy and Stephanie. Betty loved doing hair for family and friends but was a lifelong homemaker. Betty was known to many by Mamaw, Lou, white fingernail, and jokingly as "Mommy Dearest" just to name a few. However, by the love of her life, she was known as Baby Doll. She loved holidays and spending time with family. She enjoyed manicures and pedicures and shopping for new clothes, so much that her closets were often filled with clothes that still had tags on them and never worn. She loved to visit family, so much that she obtained a few speeding tickets in a rush to get home after a long day. She also loved talking on the phone to catch up with those she didn't see as often. She was such a giving person, many would say if she could take her head off and give it away she would...the word "no" was not in her vocabulary.
Elizabeth "Betty" was preceded in death by her father Patton Bruner, mother Martha Bruner (Brown), son Robert "Bobby" Mahan, Edward "Eddie" Mahan, brother Johnnie Bruner, sister Mable Barnett, sister Patsy Hall, grandson Eugene "Junebug" Wolpert and great-grandson Tyler Brown.
She is survived by her two sons, Danny (Karen) and Jimbo (Linda), two daughters Kathy (Junior) and Stephanie, 14 grandkids, 27 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren and her beloved Shih Tzu, Bruno.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2021 from 9 am until the Funeral Service at 11 am, all at New Hope Tabernacle Church, 1404 Walton Nicholson Rd. Walton, KY 41094. A luncheon will immediately follow at the church.
Her final resting place will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Taylor Mill, KY.
