Eugene "Gene" Edward Hodge

Eugene “Gene” Edward Hodge, 82 of Florence passed away peacefully Wednesday March 13 2024 surrounded by loved ones, in the comfort of his son’s home. 

Gene was born February 14 1942 to the late John Hodge and Hazel Menzer Hodge, being one of eight children he spent many years on his grandparents farm. At the young age of 17 Gene met his late wife of 59 years, Gayle Ann Ambrose. It was after many years of hard work at Century construction and raising both children and foster children; Gene and Gayle both retired and spent time traveling to places near and far, never knowing a stranger.

 Gene is preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother John (Jack) Hodge. Survived by his children Debbie Hodge;David Hodge (Shirley); Dale Hodge (Paula);Patty Hodge; Beth O’Connell(Dan) and Matt Hodge; his grandchildren Kimberly, Danielle, Jennifer, Daniel, David, Timothy, Jasmyne, Raegan, Audrey and Quinlin; as well as 9 beautiful great-grandchildren; his siblings Louis(Bo) Hodge, Carol Minogue, Steven Hodge, Elaine Hodge, Margaret (Peg) Smith and Vivian Smith. Visitation will be held Tuesday March 19 2024 at 9am, services to begin promptly at 11am at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Officiating will be prepared by Greg Fightmaster and Tim Freimuth.
