Frederick Heimkreiter Jr

Frederick Heimkreiter Jr., 87, of Ft. Thomas, Kentucky, formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio (Northside) passed away on February 19, 2018 at Cincinnati VA Hospital. Fred was the beloved son of the late Frederick and Anna Heimkreiter. Fred married Sherry Lynn Koehler, who preceded him in death in 1980. He later married Ellen Storie. Fred was a Xavier University graduate who also loved the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. He was an outstanding softball player and coach who was adored by his players, known as Fred's Boys. Fred was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan who loved all sports, especially football.
Fred is survived by his children Lori Slye, Steve (Kelly Rossi) Heimkreiter, David "Skip" (Sandy Fleming) Heimkreiter, Lynn (Austin) Welch; grandchildren Lonnie Slye, Casey Slye, Sherry Slye, Kristy (Matt) Heiny, Kelly (Corey) Steinhauser, Niki Slye, Austin Welch Jr., Alex Welch, Zach Slye; great grandchildren Kate, Charlotte and Caroline.
In addition to his wife and parents, Fred was preceded in death by his sister Carol Ann Thomas and his son in law Barry Slye.
The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Veterans Administration.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Floral Hills Funeral Home from 10am until time of service at 12pm. Burial will follow in Vine St Hill Cemetery. To leave online condolences, please visit www.floralhillsmemorialgardens.com
