Glenda Wardia

Glenda Luther Wardia, age 64, of Covington, died Friday, January 7, 2011 at Hospice of St. Elizabeth in Edgewood. Mrs. Wardia was a former Certified Medicine Aide for Florence Park Care Center & had previously worked at and visited with many residents of various nursing homes. Through the years she served as a dedicated part of the Ryland Fire Department as Squad Chief, Fire Fighter, E.M.T. and in the Ladies Auxiliary. She also was a member of the Locust Pike Pentecostal Church and Ryland Heights Lions Club, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, baking and gardening. Family members preceding her in death were her son, James "Skip" Wardia; daughter, Angela Marie Julic; father, Bill Luther; brother, Martin Luther; (2) sisters, Carmen Luther and Billie Jean Schumann. Survivors include her husband, Vincent J. Wardia; son, Mark Wardia of Covington; (3) step-daughters, Bonita Harmon of Latonia, Anna Wardia of Ryland Heights, and Tina Wardia of Latonia; step-son, Vincent J. Wardia, Jr., of Taylor Mill; mother, Henrietta Buerkley Luther of Latonia; (5) sisters, Mona Mendivil of Hamilton, OH; Barbara Luther of Cincinnati, OH, Judy Liedel of Newport, Elaine Henry of Newport, and Lycrecia Swanson of Escondido, CA; (2) brothers, John Luther of Diamondhead, MS and Clifford Luther of Danville, KY; (11) grandchildren; and (8) great grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 12, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Fire Fighter and Ladies Auxiliary service beginning at 8 p.m. at Chambers & Grubbs in Independence. Funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Floral Hills Cemetery.
