Helen Gail Mardis

Helen Gail Mardis, of Ryland Heights, KY, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 18, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY, at the glorious age of 85. She was born in Morehead, KY, on January 9, 1938, the daughter of the late James Dewey and Ethel Marie Mabry. Helen had worked for many years as a supervisor for Keebler and was a member of the First Church of God in Latonia, KY. In her spare time, Helen often enjoyed gardening and breeding German Shepherd dogs. Her greatest joy, however, came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren whom she cherished deeply. Preceding Helen in death were her parents; her loving husband, John David Andrew Mardis; her daughter, Margie Hager; her son, James Andrew "Jamie" Mardis; and her granddaughter Jennifer Miller. Those left surviving to carry on Helen's memory include her caring children, Deborah Ann Mardis, John Dale "JohnnyDale" (Rhonda) Mardis, Steven David (Doris) Mardis, and Dixie Marie (George) Weber; grandchildren, John Matt Overwine, David Joseph Overwine, Neal Robert Overwine, Nathan Philip Overwine, Rachel Elizabeth Cofer, Kenneth Hager, Crystal Thacker, Alicia Blanton, Steven Andrew Pete Mardis, John Tyler Mardis, Kelsey Jordan Weber, Jacob Anthony Weber, Hunter Alexander Weber, Mason Cole Weber, Landon James Mardis; great-grandchildren, Landon Hager, Kennedy Hager, Alyssia Ratliff, Amelie Overwine, Atticus Overwine, Irene Overwine, Atlas Overwine, Ava Cofer, Halle Cofer, Taylor Hicks, Damian Miller, and Ethan Lawrence; as well as many other close relatives and friends. A celebration of Helen's life will take place from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 5336 Old Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, KY 41015. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Helen will then be reunited with her devoted husband and laid to rest at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
