James Larkin Bunch, 82, of Independence, KY, born March 15, 1942, also affectionately known as "Buddy" was called home by the Lord and joined his parents, Herschel R. Bunch and Pauline G. Sampson Bunch, and his “Sissy”, Sonja Fields. James passed peacefully at home on December 9, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
James is survived by his wife, soulmate and forever sweetheart, Brenda A. Griffis Bunch, who was by his side since the summer of 1958, sharing an extraordinary love of a lifetime He is also survived by his son, Scott Bunch, and daughter-in-law, Sandra; his daughters, Paulette Bunch and Reneé Luttrell, along with son-in-law Chris; his grandchildren Miranda (Joshua) Rankin, Ashley (Adis) Skiljo, Brandon (Mallory) Ransdell and Cooper Meier, and great-grandchildren, Bryleigh, Owen, Emmalynn, Alaina, Garrett and Connor, who all brought him immense pride and happiness.
James graduated from Central High School, Cincinnati, OH, was a proud member of the United States Air Force (Anchorage, Alaska) and retired from EM Science, Cincinnati, OH. James loved music, movies, camping, fishing, the beach, history, trivia and was an excellent story teller. James and Brenda were known to win a dance or two back in the day. He had many hobby interests and collections, with a special interest in trains and military planes. He was an incredibly wise man with a lot of knowledge about a little of everything. He spent many summers, as a child, in Corbin, KY, and cherished those memories. James was known for his strong will and determination, coupled with a sharp-witted sense of humor. He loved everyone and was truly loved by all.
A visitation to honor James’ memory will be held on December 16, 2024, at Floral Hills Funeral Home – Chapel A in Taylor Mill, KY from 10:30AM until 12:30 PM. Following the visitation, a graveside service will take place at Floral Hills Cemetery in Covington, KY starting at 12:30 PM with military graveside rites.
James’ legacy of love and commitment to both family and country will continue to resonate within the hearts of all who knew him. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
