James J. Burris, age 85, of Latonia Lakes, died Sunday at his residence. He was a former Machinist for Day Mixing Company in Cincinnati, a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church, and a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Burris enjoyed drag racing, N.A.S.C.A.R., gardening, hunting, and working on things. His son, James Paul Burris preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Betty Z. King Burris; (3) daughters, Roberta Buchman and Charlotte Tye of Latonia Lakes, and Debbie Ulm of Independence; sister, Frances McCombs of Hot Springs, AR; (7) grandchildren; and (7) great grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs in Independence. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Floral Hills Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Oak Ridge Baptist Church, 6036 Clubhouse Drive, Covington, KY 41015-2307.
