James Rue Chasteen
Covington – Passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the age of 66. Jim proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War Era, with the final rank of Sergeant. He and his wife, Gail, spent three years in Germany during his service time. Jim’s favorite pastime was fishing, he was one of the top fishermen in the Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati area. Jim was always into something and loved teasing people. He enjoyed history, teaching people and telling stories. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends that loved and cherished him.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Gail Chasteen (nee Anderson), who he shared 48 special years with; his sons, Johnny Rue (Nicol) Chasteen, Jason Albert (Leanna) Chasteen; grandchildren, Tori Lynn Chasteen, Sam Chasteen, Annabelle Chasteen; mother, Gail Hensley; sister, Rhonda (Tony) Lawson of Lexington, KY; and brother, Dorsey (Brenda) Chasteen of Morning View, KY. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Walker and his father, Stanley Chasteen.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 8, 2020 from 6 – 9 pm at Floral Hills Funeral Home, Taylor Mill, KY. Funeral Service will follow on Saturday, January 9, 2020 at 10 am at the funeral home. Livestreaming of the funeral service is available below. Military honors and burial will immediately follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made in Jim’s name to the Armed Services YMCA or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
