James Jefferson Kilgore II was born on April 29, 1925 to Bertha (Kidder) Kilgore & James Kilgore in their home in Maysville, KY.
James moved to his home in Newport at the age of 5 years old and remained in that same home until his death.
James was baptized in the early 1980s with his wife at Christian Tabernacle Church. James attended school in the Newport School District as did all 8 of his children. James enlisted into the 691st Army Corp of Engineers where he sailed on the S.S. Buckner in the Pacific Theater. He was a technical Sergeant of heavy equipment, and was stationed in Burma, India. James earned 3 medals during his time in the Army which were: Pacific theater ribbon, good conduct medal & the victory medal of WWII. James also earned the sharp shooter title. James worked as a carpenter & millworker for most of his adult career just as Jesus did. He crafted many pieces for the local restaurants and other establishments.
James is preceded in his death by his wife of 57years Della (Rader) Kilgore and his son William Kilgore. James is survived by his 7 other children Jim (Vicky) Kilgore, George Kilgore, Laraine (Mike) Hardman, Jack Kilgore, Ellen (Dino) Hearld, Clay (Denese) Kilgore, Scott (Melissa) Kilgore. 15 Grand children, 42 Great Grandchildren, 6 Great Great Grandchildren, and a host of other relatives.
James entered the golden gates of Heaven on March 16, 2016 in Edgewood, KY with his family by his side, lovingly holding his hands.
