James "Paul" Mahoney, Jr., a dedicated Machine Tool Engineer and beloved family man, passed away peacefully on September 8 2024, in Edgewood, Kentucky. Born on February 28, 1947, in Lexington, Kentucky, "Paul" lived a life filled with passion for his wife, work and a deep love for music and family. "Paul" proudly served his country as a member of United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, exemplifying the values of courage and commitment throughout his life. Following his military service, he made significant contributions to the field of engineering, establishing himself as a respected Machine Tool Engineer. Beyond his professional achievements, "Paul" found joy in playing the guitar and was one form of relaxation.He also greatly appreciated reading on many varied subjects. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Peggy Ruth Mahoney; loving sons, Christopher Mahoney (Astrid) and Aaron Mahoney, as well as his daughter Shannon Mahoney and 7 grandchildren. "Paul" was also cherished by his siblings, brother Charlie Mahoney and sisters Teresa Myers and Martha Deters. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. "Paul" was preceded in death by his parents, James "Paul" Mahoney Sr. and Ruth Sallee Mahoney, who undoubtedly laid the foundation for his profound character and dedication to family and country. Also preceded in death were his brothers Michael, Stephen and David. "Paul's legacy will endure through the lives he touched and the memories he created. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Arbor House Church, located at 5228 Madison Pike, Independence, Ky. this Saturday, September 14th from 12pm - 4pm. Family will provide more detail.
