James “Jim” Cavanaugh

Independence – Passed away peacefully on April 30, 2021 at the age of 71. Jim was an avid sports fan, he enjoyed the Cincinnati Reds, UK Basketball and his absolute favorite, the Cincinnati Bengals. He was a very hard worker and had a successful 42-year career at ADP as a computer programmer. In his free time, he enjoyed outdoor activities like yardwork and gardening. He was the beloved husband of the late Frances “Fran” Cavanaugh for 29 years. Jim was a wonderful and kind father to his children Michael and Laura. He will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends.

Jim is survived by his son, Michael Cavanaugh; daughter, Laura Cavanaugh; sisters, Cathy (Tom) Johnson, Patricia (Dave) Lauer, Linda (Mark) Peddicord and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernie and Betty Cavanaugh; sister, Mary Ann Elliott; and mother-in-law, Frances Salgado.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 from 10 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 12 pm, all at St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, 5313 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. Burial will immediately follow at St. Cecilia Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
