Today we remember daughter, mother, grandmother Janet Sue Metsch. Who's life for the past 12 years was lost to Alzheimer's dementia.
Janet was born Janet Sue Dooley on December 29, 1941 in Garlin, KY to Oris and Bertha Dooley. Growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio with 3 brothers and 1 sister. She is preceded in death by her father, mother, her brother Randall Dooley, his wife Betty Dooley, and her brother Jack Dooley.
Janet is survived by her son Robert (Sharon) Metsch, daughter Kathleen (Vince) Powell, granddaughters Lindsay (Zac), Courtney (Derek), Jenna, and her grandson Ian. Also, her brother Arnold (Bonnie) Dooley, sister Theresa (Ivan) Puckett, and sister-in-law Roberta Dooley.
Janet was a member of White Oak Christian Church for over 40 year. She faithfully taught Sunday school, worked VBS, hosted bible studies, and always looked for ways to serve.
Janet retired from Cinco Credit Union in 2011 after working 15 years there as an Executive Secretary. She had previously worked for Henne Companies, and before having children, the City of Cincinnati. Janet loved to work crossword puzzles, cross-stitch, crocheting, and reading. She briefly owned a bookstore called "The Paperback Exchange".
Harrison, Ohio is where she raised her children, was a member of the PTA, and where her bookstore was located.
In her final days she and her family were made comfortable and cared for by the compassionate nurses, nursing assistants, and the many volunteers at Hospice in Edgewood, Kentucky. On August 1, 2024 Janet passed from this earth to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A visitation celebrating Janet's life will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM at Floral Hills Funeral Home ~ Chapel A, 5336 Old Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, KY 41015. Janet will be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
