Jodi Lynn Schmidt, born September 24, 1966, passed away peacefully April 10, 2022 at her home in Alexandria, Kentucky with her family at her side. She leaves behind her parents, Paul and Christine (Schwartz) Schmidt; sisters Deborah (Denis) Lanning; Rhonda (Michael) Griffith; brother Jamie Schmidt; 1 niece, 5 nephews, 2 great nieces; 9 great nephews and 1 great-great niece and her beloved rescue dogs. Jodi always loved music and begged her parents for piano lessons, but decided to play other instruments since her brother played the piano better. She attended Campbell County High School and enjoyed the band where she played the flute, mellophone and French horn. Jodi was part of the worship team at Grace Fellowship Church in Ft. Thomas, where she played acoustic and bass guitar. Her God given desire out of high school was to help abused children which led her to Morehead University for a major in Psychology. But a wise professor told her she would not be happy sitting behind a desk to counsel because she liked “getting her hands dirty.” So she obtained a bachelor in Sociology and Social work. She then went on to obtain a Master’s of Social Work at University of Kentucky and obtained her independent license in KY, OH and IN. It is important to Jodi that everyone understands she did not lose her battle with cancer. She defied every prognosis given by her doctors due to God’s grace. Jodi told us all how lucky she was to have been given time to gain appreciation for those around her and the beauty of God’s creation. She was enormously grateful to God for her family, friends and for their loving care in the last 6 months. There will be a memorial service Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Grace Fellowship Church in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky with a “Celebration of Life” immediately following the service at Grace Fellowship Church, 90 Alexandria Pike, Ft. Thomas Kentucky 41075. She requested donations for Chelsea’s Second Chance Rescue in lieu of flowers. A lifelong love of dogs, and being heartbroken over the abandoned senior dogs, she began rescuing them. Over the last five years, she has provided a loving home and medical care until their passing for over 70 dogs. The rescue will continue with Rhonda Griffith directing and the remaining dogs are being care for by family.
