John Reed

John Terrance Reed
January 5, 1942 - March 5, 2013

John T. Reed began his career with the B&O Railroad in 1966 as a brakeman. Immediately, his interests were in the rights of the working man. He was elected into a Local Chairman position and then to a Delegate position. He was elected as a GCA Secretary, Vice General Chairman and a General Chairman. He served on several National Negotiating Committees and Wage and Rules Panels. He moved the Cleveland UTU office to Jacksonville, Florida in 1995.

John, better known as Terry, was a hunter and an avid fisherman.
Terry retired from his General Chairman position in 2003. He and Phyllis, his wife of 51
years, remained in Jacksonville until his death.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis, daughter and son-in-law Melody and Alex Warner, grandson and his wife Dave and Tracy Warner, granddaughters Alison and Shelby Warner, great grandchildren Joshua, Tristan, and Gavin Warner, siblings Marilee Moore and Rick Reed, and 18 nieces and nephews. Visitation for Terry Reed, a native Kentuckian, will be on Monday, March 11, 2013 from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 1:00 pm at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Graveside service will immediately follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home in Taylor Mill. Floral Hills Funeral Home is serving the family.
