Glaza
Joseph S. Glaza, age 81, of Ryland Heights, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood. He was a retired Heavy Equipment Operator for Richard Goettle Inc. in Cincinnati, OH and a member of Staffordsburg United Methodist Church in Independence. Mr. Glaza had previously served as a City Commissioner for both Visalia and Ryland Heights and was a Kentucky Colonel. Through the years he volunteered for Action Ministries (over 17 years), Fairhaven Rescue Mission, and was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts. Joe was a man of great work ethic and his grandson once asked "Grandpa, why do you think working is fun?" His sister, Rosalie Baldwin and two brothers, Frank & Gordon Glaza preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mildred Zimmerman Glaza; sons, Steve (Deborah) Glaza and Jeff (Heidi) Glaza; sister, Alice Budke; and grandchildren, Gretchen, Brandy, and Nathan Glaza. Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Chambers and Grubbs in Independence. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon at the funeral home. Interment will be at Floral Hills Cemetery.
