Joyce Marie Rice Eads

September 9, 1946 – July 19, 2021

Joyce Marie Rice was born on September 9, 1946 as the first child of James R. and Mildred Hegge Rice, Jr. She would go on to be the oldest of 11, six sisters and four brothers. Joyce graduated from Walton-Verona High School in 1964 and would be chosen Miss Boone County in August of that year. In January 1965 she would marry Wilbur (Butch) Zevely, become a licensed cosmetologist and later give birth to her first child, Teri Ann.

In July 1973 she would become the wife of Rodney Eads and have three more children, Michelle, Jennifer and Brian. They would soon make the move from Florence to the hills of Morning View, KY, where she would reside for the rest of her life.

After her children were grown, Joyce became a blackjack dealer at Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg for 16 years. In 2011 she retired and settled in at her home in Morning View to lovingly help care for her grandchildren.

Joyce loved the sun and the beach, taking really long drives, raising wonderful gardens, then canning the produce from those gardens, most of all, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joyce was preceded in death by her mother and father and her grandson Michael.

On the morning of July 19, 2021 when she passed from this earth following a long valiant battle with cancer, she was surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren.

Those she leaves behind are: Teri Ann (Mike) Miedema, Michelle (Matt) Eads, Jennifer (Darrin) Eads, and Brian (Vickie) Eads. Also her grandchildren; Charles David “odie”, Mallory, Johnathan, Casey Lyen, Megan, Rebecca, Colton Bryce, Laura, and Aleea and 14 great-grandchildren, plus 3 more on the way.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 10 am until the Funeral Service at 12 pm, all at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
