Kathleen F. Barnard, of Cold Spring, KY passed away at Carmel Manor on Saturday, October 1, 2022. She was born in Bellevue, KY on February 7, 1933 to Harry and Freda (Trunnel) Grau. She attended St. John United Church of Christ, Bellevue, KY and was married to James E. Barnard there.
She was an animal lover, art teacher, Girl Scout co-leader and kind soul. She was a loving mother. She was a wonderful example of kindness and compassion to all who knew her, and caregiver to any lost animal she found. She spent most of the 1980s as co-leader to Girl Scout Troop 18, guiding the girls through day camps, weekly meetings and trips to New York and Canada, out west to a Girl Scout camp, and Savannah Georgia. Scouting became her most treasured activity, the girls becoming extended family.
She was preceded in death by husband, James E. Barnard, brother-in-law William Barnard and his spouse, Sylvia and niece Cindy Bivens.
She is survived by daughter Jamie K. (Barnard) Schubert, her spouse James A. Schubert, brothers Jim Grau and wife Ann, Walt Grau and Susan, nephews Daryl Grau and wife Susan, Kevin Grau and wife Stina, great nephews Eric, Alex and Ben, great niece Madelyn, 1 great great nephew and 2 great great nieces. On husband’s side, Leslie Hertzenberg, Debbie Hudson, Sheila Studer and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, October 14, 2022, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Service will be at 11 a.m., visitation follows service.
