Mary Elizabeth Fields Neumeister, 83, of Walton, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Edgewood. She was born on August 28, 1940, in Dry Ridge, the daughter of Albert Augusta Fields and Mary Letha (Stephenson) Fields. She was a member of Walton Baptist Church, and was devoted in marriage for 66 years to David Neumeister, who survives. Also surviving are her children: Carl (Karen) Neumeister, Beverly Jean (Otis Wendell) Brown, Rita (the late Allen (AJ)) Jones and Roger (Alice) Neumeister. Her grandchildren: Dawn (Nathan) Fay, Adam Moore, Derek (Laura) Brown, Casey Jones , Sara Beth (Ryan) Marshall, Traci (Russell) Richardson and Jamie (Jordon) Lainhart and her great grandchildren: Allie Iseral, Natalie(Noah) Leardon, Simon, Valerie, Lucy and Joel Fay, Beckham and Hadley Brown, Raelyn and Brooklyn Jones, McKinley, River, Willow, and Era Mary Butcher, Hunter, Caleb, Joanna and Lydia Marshall, Bentley and Shiloh Richardson and Tripp, Jenson and Grady Lainhart. Mary was in a perpetually good mood, found excitement in the little things, had contentment with little or much and saw the good in things- be it an item in a thrift store or an ungovernable grandchild-that others overlooked. She was quirky. But her quirks brought the purest form of joy and color to every situation. She never worked outside the home/family farm, but the fruits of her labor could, can and will always be evident far outside the walls and fences of York Rd. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren carry on her unrivaled work ethic, a determination to complete what is started, a tendency to blaze trails, inextinguishable, sacrificial love and devotion for our families, contagious laughter, a zeal for life—particularly special occasions—and most importantly a love for the Lord shared by all 4 of her children, all 6 of her grandchildren and trickling into 20 great grandchildren. If we could all say that about our legacies the world would be a better place.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Monday, April 8, 2024 , at Floral Hills Funeral Home, with Denny French officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 12-1 PM at the funeral Home. Burial will be at the Independence Cemetery. The family finds it fitting that the service will be held in the same day of the eclipse, when even the sun will pause from shining as we pay our respect to the brightest light in our family. Although her light isn't visible for us now, we know it isn't gone. Rather it is eclipsed from our view until we see her in glory, a day that can’t come soon enough for us.
