INDEPENDENCE - Mary Loretta "Ret" Scherder Placke, 76, died Aug. 14 at St. Elizabeth Edgewood.
She was a homemaker and member of Independence Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and Benevolent Order of Moose, Lodge 1469.
Her husband, Robert J. Placke, died in 1990.
Survivors include her daughters, Debbie Fortner and Loretta "Rett" Placke, both of Independence; son, Kevin Placke of Independence; sister, Helen Bach of Morning View; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, and 11 a.m.-noon Wednesday, Aug. 18, with Mass of Christian Burial following at St. Cecilia Church, Independence. Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence, is handling arrangements.
Memorials: American Lung Association, 4100 Churchman Ave., Louisville, KY 40215; or St. Cecilia Church, 5313 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051.
