Michael “Mike” Newcomb

78, of Covington, Kentucky passed away peacefully on January 6, 2022 surrounded by his dear friends and family. He was born in Covington, Kentucky to the late Fred and Corrinne Newcomb. After graduating from Holmes High School in 1962 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps until 1967, spending time in Vietnam. In 1967 Mike was hired on the Covington Fire Department, where he was promoted to Lieutenant on Heavy Rescue 1 and retired from the fire department in 1994. Mike enjoyed learning military and fire department history and researching family genealogy. He is survived by his close friends Chris and Linda Fryman; cousins Jay Mann, Gilbert Mann, Stephanie Sieghist and Holly Georgin; and many close friends. Along with his parents, Mike is preceded in death by his siblings Lecter Newcomb and Nancy Dreyer and his beloved Aunt Dot.  A Visitation will be held at Floral Hills Funeral Home on Saturday, January 15, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 13782 Decoursey Avenue, Morning View, KY 41063. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Memorial Contribution suggested to the American Legion, Post 203, Latonia, KY 41015. Floral Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mike Newcomb.
