Oneida Thompson

Oneida Thompson, 91, of Independence, Kentucky, passed away on January 19, 2018 at St. Elizabeth, Edgewood. She was born on October 27, 1926 to the late Kelly and Dora Mae Reed. In 1944 she married Herbert Thompson who preceded her in death in 1981. Oneida was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She had been a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church before becoming a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Oneida is survived by her loving grandchildren Leroy Tolbert, Jason Waters and Melinda Amrein; great grandchildren Kelly Tolbert, Donald Joseph Tolbert, Jade Waters, Jagger Waters, Justin Newman, Jonathan Newman, Tyler Amrein, Logan Amrein; great great grandchildren Cassidy Tolbert, Cody Tolbert, Ruthie Shoemaker, and Aidan Newman; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband and parents, Oneida was preceded in death by her daughters Ada Eubanks and Patricia Waters; granddaughter Vickie Laughlin; brothers Lester Reed, Dale Reed and Corbit Reed; and sister Mildred Hicks.
The family has suggested memorial contributions be made to Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Independence, Kentucky.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 9am until time of service at 10am. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
