Rachel Jane Mehuron, 60, of Covington, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023, at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born June 1, 1963, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Rachel is a former member of Sunny Acres United Methodist Church in Taylor Mill, KY. She married Mark Anthony Mehuron at Sunny Acres Methodist Church by Pastor Bill Conaster. She attended Center Point church for four years. Rachel was the second graduating class of Scott High School class of 1981. She graduated from Christ School of Nursing in 1985. She was employed as a Registered Nurse at Christ Hospital. While attending Christ Hospital School of Nursing she worked there as a unit clerk, Graduated from Christ Hospital School of Nursing in 1985, then worked on the Oncology/ Specialty floor (4 South) for several years before transferring to the Postpartum floor (9 South) for the remainder of her 38-year career. She retired from The Christ Hospital in 2021. Rachel volunteered at Children’s schools (Taylor Mill PTA, Woodland Middle School, Scott High School) and at Sporting/Academic events (Swimming, Cross Country, and Academics). She was a lifeguard as a teenager at the Taylor Mill Swim Club, and volunteered at children’s swim and dive meets, hanging out in her spot reading books. She enjoyed attending Niece Dyllan’s cross country events in high school and college and attended all Mountain bike, BMX, and Dirt Bike races for her son, husband, and daughter. Rachel enjoyed mountain biking, horseback riding, and hiking with her family at the Big South Fork National Forest, Pisgah National Forest, and many other places. She organized numerous trips including their annual trip to Indian Rocks Beach, Florida with family and friends. She was a dedicated fan of UK basketball and attended many games at Rupp Arena. She enjoyed going to Lake Cumberland KY, and going to the cabin with family and friends for campfires, boating, hiking, and biking (Cumberland Falls State Park). She welcomed children’s friends with open arms and introduced them to water sports. Rachel loved traveling around the country, enjoying the great outdoors including California, Utah, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Yosemite, The Grand Canyon, Joshua Tree, Grand Tetons, Zion National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Bryce Canyon, and Rocky Mountain National Park, Arches National Park, Whistler Canada to watch Zach compete in a Mountain Bike Race. She also enjoyed going out to eat with family and friends often and visiting Keeneland annually for Horse Racing in either the Spring or Fall session. She always remembered and acknowledged family and friend's special events/ occasions and loved to celebrate any occasion for any reason. Rachel is survived by her mother, Rita Smith Hasler; mother-in-law, Eileen Hogan Mehuron; devoted husband, Mark Anthony Mehuron; daughter, Kelsey Nicole Mehuron; son, Zach Anthony Mehuron; daughter-in-law, Sarah Lillian Cowie; daughter-in-law, Sarah Kathleen McManus; brother, Robert (Bob) Hassler; sister-in-law, Kelly Hasler; nephew, Jaggur Hasler; niece, Dyllan Hasler; sister-in-law, Marcia Reusch; brother-in-law, Tom Reusch; nephew, Bryce Reusch; sister-in-law, Michele Deutsch; niece, Angelique Perez; brother-in-law, Greg Deutsch; sister-in-law, Mariam Mehuron-Caludis; and sister-in-law, Marlene Wendling. She is preceded in death by her father, Charles Robert (Bob) Hasler; grandfather, Stuart Hasler; grandmother, Genevieve Hasler; grandmother, Emma Martin Smith Peak; and father-in-law, Jack Rodrick Mehuron. Rachel’s Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Calvary Christian School (5955 Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, KY 41015) at 6:30 PM. Floral Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve Rachel’s family.
