Sandra Lee Wagner, 69, of Taylor Mill, Ky. departed us on Sept. 26, 2023, now reunited in Heaven with her Lord and savior. Born as Sandra Lee Hammons on Sept. 15, 1954, to loving parents George and Edith Hammons of Cincinnati, she spent the latter part of her childhood in Newport, Ky., graduating from Newport High School in 1972. She married her faithful and adoring husband, the late Roger Michael Wagner of Latonia, Ky., on June 5, 1976, and they settled in Taylor Mill to start a loving family bringing forth daughter Charity in 1977 and son Joshua in in 1980, both graduates of Scott High School and Northern Kentucky University.
Sandra’s devotion to family and faith was total. She was a leader at Faith Baptist Church in Latonia spending many decades organizing Sunday school, leading women’s Bible Study groups, singing and acting as church secretary. She placed her family at the center of all that was needed to keep the church vibrant and growing, and her impact on Faith Baptist is one of her most enduring legacies. As a devoted mother and grandmother, Sandra stood firmly, humbly, and prayerfully alongside her children and grandchildren as they navigated life’s challenges and was their proudest supporter in celebrating their accomplishments.
A breast cancer survivor, Sandra’s body posed many challenges, but she never let them impact her loving soul, her everlasting kindness to her family and friends, or her unwavering commitment to bettering the lives of her children. She embodied all that is to be a Christian - to accept and overcome the inherent frailty of the human condition through faith, charity, conviction, and humility.
Sandra is preceded in death by her mother Edith and husband Roger, and survived by her father George, children Charity (John) Kirtley and Joshua (Katie) Wagner, and five grandchildren: Cameron, Georgi, Blake, Nolan, and Spencer. She is in the Lord's arms now and that gives us comfort in this sad time.
Visitation will take place on Monday, Oct. 2, 2023, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill, with a memorial service beginning at 1 p.m. The family will celebrate Sandra’s life and welcome guests at Pride Park, Taylor Mill, beginning at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (pancan.org).
