Shelby Jean "Jeanne" Koopman died Friday morning, February 9, 2018 in Palm Harbor, FL. Jeanne was born April 4, 1936 in Cumberland County, KY to Eddie Glen and Minnie Compton. Jeanne was preceded in death by the love of her life, Elmer "Bud" Koopman who she married in 1956.
Jeanne is survived by children Mark Koopman and his wife, Jan Torck, Dawn Larson and her husband, Tom, Joanie Loch and her husband Gene; grandchildren Katie Wylie and her husband Cory, Joe Larson and his wife Annie, and Rachel Larson; brothers Eddie 'Butch' Compton of Ryland Heights, KY and James 'Jimmy' Compton of Clermont, FL. She was preceded in death by brother Larry Compton of Burlington, KY and sister Judith 'Judy' Compton of Chicago, IL.
Jeanne and her beloved husband, Bud, were avid UK basketball fans and were known to travel to games at the drop of a hat. Jeanne loved Disney like no one else, and therefore so did Bud. After Bud retired from first the Navy and then P&G they took jobs at Disney as convention hosts where they worked hard and played harder. They treated their family to many, many trips to Disney, and they absolutely loved taking grandkids to Disney, as well as many of their grandkids' friends, earning the names of MiMi and G-Bud to a broad group of young Disney fanatics.
