It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Ann Brinkley, 84, of Williamstown, KY. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 26, 1939, in Cincinnati, OH, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Ball and Anna Rose Ball.
Shirley was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Known for her selflessness, humor, and fierce independence, she lived life on her own terms. A vibrant spirit, she loved tap dancing and square dancing, and she brought joy wherever she went. As a social worker, she dedicated her career to caring for children, a vocation she embraced with the same love and dedication she showed to her five sons.
Her family was her greatest treasure. Shirley’s home was a sanctuary filled with laughter, wisdom, and warmth. She was always ready to lend an ear, offering sage advice and genuine interest in everyone’s lives. Her zest for life inspired everyone around her, reminding us all to embrace every moment and find joy in the simple things.
Shirley’s greatest legacy lies in the close-knit family she cultivated, a testament to her unwavering commitment to keep her loved ones together. She leaves behind not just cherished memories, but a profound impact on the hearts of all who knew her. Her greatest aspiration was to keep her family close, a goal she achieved beautifully.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Brinkley, her son Daniel/Danny Brinkley, her daughter in law Rhonda Brinkley, and grand daughter Sarah Brinkley. She is survived by her sons: Keith Brinkley, Kevin Brinkley, Kenneth/Kenny (Marissa) Brinkley, and David (Debora Cox) Brinkley; her cherished grandchildren Ruthanne (Brian) Eberhart, Amber (Allen) Brooks, Audra (Billy) Simpson, Samantha (Justin) Winebrenner, Brandon (Dana) Brinkley, Andrew (Tim) Brinkley, Brittany (Adam) Reffett, Christian Brinkley and Stephanie Brinkley; and her 21 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind extended family and friends.
As we celebrate her extraordinary life, we find comfort in knowing that her spirit will continue to dance among us. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice in her honor, reflecting her lifelong dedication to helping others. Shirley will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends.
