Dorene Lyon

Dorene Brue Lyon, 88, of Covington, KY passed away peacefully at her home on September 17, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Donald "Moon" Lyon on Aug. 1, 2004. She is survived by her son, Donald Mark (Paula) Lyon, grandchildren Polly (Dan) Rose and Mark Chapin (Vicheaka) Lyon; 2 great grandchildren Allie Beth Rose and Matthew Rose. Dorene was employed for 30 years in the Covington Independent and Kenton County School Systems She beginning with 10 ½ years at Holmes High School as secretary. She then served as Teacher Payroll Officer for 3 years at the Central Office. She then served as secretary to the Superintendent in the Independent system and Kenton County system. After retirement she was named to the Covington Board of Education. She was a member of Latonia Christian Church since 1954, where she taught youth in Sunday School for 37 years and was active on the Benevolent Committee. She volunteered at Action Ministries and was a Kentucky Colonel. A Visitation will take place on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Floral Hills Funeral Home from 10 AM until the time of service at 12 PM. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
