George Howard Carney, 94, of Independence, Kentucky passed away on February 17, 2018 in his home under the care of Bluegrass Hospice, his daughter Nicole Carney and Mary Herthel. George was born on October 16, 1923 to the late James and Elizabeth Carney. George married Ruth Brown, and she preceded him in death in 1953. He then married Estelle Duncan who preceded him in death in 1972. His last wife, Eileen Frolich preceded him in death in 2006. George was a WWII veteran and a parishioner of St. Barbara's Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing and golf in his younger days. George retired from CJKrehbiel Print Co and then enjoyed working in his garden, taking care of his fruit trees and feeding all the forest animals and birds. He also worked part time as a maintenance man until two years ago at St. Barbara's Church.
George is survived by his loving children Dennis Carney and Nicole Carney; sisters Rose Bowling, Virginia Carney; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and wives, George was preceded in death by his son Keith in 1983.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donations to the Alzheimer's Association or the local SPCA.
A visitation will be held on March 3, 2018 at St Barbara's Church from 9 am until time of Mass at 10am. Floral Hills is assisting the family.
